Getting Even

"I'm sorry, I'll never do it again. I don't know what I was thinking", quipped Saahil.

Niharika was quiet. Finally, "Do you love her?", she asked.

"No honey, I love you. It was just one time, a mistake. Please forgive me."

                              *A gun shot*

Saahil lay on the floor with blood oozing out of his temple. He wriggled for a while before going still.

"Now, we're even." Niharika said and walked away, cupping her swollen belly.

    1. You should have. Infidelity deserves nothing less.

  3. Soumya,

OMG! She had nerves of steel to take such a strong step. How I wish she had punished him by some other way for the sake of child she was carrying.

    Take care

    1. Infidelity deserves no other punishment Jack. She did exactly what I would have done.

  4. That was too quick...on the other hand, she probably still has a few months to go

    1. Again, just what I told Jack. Infidelity deserves no less than death.

    2. what i meant to say was that the punishment ended too soon. Slow death (maybe lasting for a few months) would have been more like it

  7. Can mind and its travails be ever predicted or harnessed?
    What is infidelity actually?
Putting up a pretense and games behind is of course unpardonable..but not enough to kill.
She should actually kill him from her mind.. has she succeeded in doing that with that gunshot.. i wonder!
And what if one pledges love and later on feels a vacuum? which is later on filled by another?

Crisp writing and it had the desired effect.. the reader jolts.. Good Soumya

    1. Its all in the mind and its complexities. She did what she had to and wanted to, at that moment. That's the beauty of being a victim. You lose the capacity to think.

Thanks pygmalion. Nice to see you here after long :)
