Action Replay - June 2015

Half a year is already gone by. Am I the only one who realized this just now? How quick has it been. By the time I decide to wake up next, I'm sure it will be 2016. Crazy!

June was a month that revolved around work and more work. I'm not complaining, I enjoyed the thrill and the rush of it. I like to be busy. If I had to sit idle even for a few minutes I would go crazy. I don't know how some women manage to sit at home and do nothing. It would have driven me up the wall. Exactly why I loathe the concept of being a house wife. It even sounds disgusting to me. My mother has always been a working lady and I am used to seeing such women around me. Ofcourse there are a few house wives who follow their passion and make something out of the time they spend at home. Be it blogging, writing, painting or any other form of it. Thanks to the internet, today almost everyone has a job where they can work from anywhere they want. I know so many stay at home women, who work from their homes and make good money to sustain themselves. Ofcourse it is not always about money, it is about having a strong passion for something that you love doing. Some people have none of it and I wonder how they face themselves everyday. I wrote about this here earlier.

I clocked seven years of working on the 27th of June. I still remember the day I joined my company, the biggest IT giant in the world. I was a fresher and everything around was so new. Today after seven years I have achieved more than what I thought I could. People wonder how I spent seven years in the same company and I say why not? Most of my peers and friends have jumped companies to increase their pay scale. They hate their jobs but continue to do it as long as it guarantees them a big fat pay cheque. But for me, money is hardly a concern. I love my job and thanks to my dedication and hard work, I have received a good number of rewards and recognition and today I make the money I deserve. I would not give up the job I love for a big pay scale. I need to enjoy what I do, else I think there is no point doing it. This job gives me the freedom to be financially independent and a stature of my own. It also gives me ample time to pursue my other interest. Writing.

I started writing only after I started working and until today I do both of it in parallel. You can say that I have two jobs that I immensely love. Writing gives me an additional income as well and together with what my job pays me I think I'm in a very comfortable position today. The eighth year begins and I'm looking forward to cross a decade in this company. Yes, I'm going to stay here as long as I can.

'The Cuckoo's Calling' has been put in the back burner again. But I did read 'Without You' by Preethi Venugopala and reviewed it here. I have bookmarked and downloaded the samples of a lot of books on my kindle. 'Palace Of Illusions' being one of them. I have been wanting to read this since like forever. And yes, 'Rebecca'. And then 'Lolita'. So many books in queue and yet J.K Rowling doesn't let me have it easy. I have made a vow to not pick up any other book until I complete this one. 'The Silkworm' is also awaiting its turn on the bookshelf. I feel bad at times. I spend a lot of money buying these books and it hurts to see that they are unread until now. Maybe I need to prioritise my time better. But now it might be more difficult.

Why you ask? Because I have started another blog! Yes, just like how I mentioned in my last Action Replay post I started a blog solely for fashion and beauty. This place will remain for my creative writing and personal stuff. But fashion, beauty, lifestyle and food will now be talked about in, wait for it, Yellow Mojito! Yes, that is the name of my new blog. Do you guys like it? If yes, please hop over there and show me some love. It doesn't have much apart from an introductory post now, but I'm looking to post as often as I can on that too. I will need your support for that, so bless me.

So June was all about work and following your passions and yes, the brand new blog!

How was your June?

  1. JK Rowling does that. I liked The Silkworm better than the The Cuckoo's Calling. Though both the books are fantastic. I can't wait to read the next one. Congratulations for completing 7 years. I love the new blog name. Heading off to Yellow Mojito now :).
