The 'Anything But Books' Tag

I was tagged by Shantala to take up the 'Anything But Books' tag. The tag is to answer the below questions and none of the answers have to involve books. Initially, I thought this would be impossible for me, since I have become a voracious reader these days (mostly in a desperate attempt to finish the fifth Harry Potter book and move on to other books, I'm done with 600 pages: 200 more to go), but I do enjoy a challenge no matter how hard it is. Also, it has been a long time since I did a personal post on the blog so maybe this can double up as that too.

So, if you didn't know me already, get ready to learn some of my quirks.

Here we go!

Name a cartoon(s) that you love.

I used to be an ardent fan of Popeye while I was young. Now, I do enjoy reading and watching The Adventures Of Tintin.

What is your favorite song right now?

If only I had some time to listen to music. I'm terribly outdated on music and have no clue what the latest hits are. Recently, I went for a Guns N Roses tribute at a pub. Since then, 'Paradise City' has been on my mind.

What could you do for hours (that isn’t reading)?

Talk or watch Netflix - both with the husband. If I'm alone, I'd watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S or Castle endlessly.

What is something you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?

Since everyone knows that I'm an OCD freak, I'd leave out the stuff related to it.

I'm a sucker for fashion and try my best to stay updated. Since my busy lifestyle doesn't allow me to follow fashion closely, I stalk a few fashion bloggers on Instagram and scroll through their entire feed. I love discovering new fashion statements and faux pas.

What is your favorite unnecessarily specific thing to learn about (this can do with books, I guess)?

I'm a creative person and I try to learn a lot of new things. Sometimes it is a new recipe or sometimes I try to create my own clothes based on recent trends. One thing that I've wanted to learn since forever is swimming and that still is pending.

What is something unusual you know how to do?

I'm a very good handyman(woman). I can pretty much fix everything around the house. From a broken drawer to a faulty flush, I can fix it all. However, I stay away from stuff related to electricity.

Name something you’ve made in the last year (and show us, if you can).

If this includes food, you must check my Instagram feed. I also end up drawing/sketching pretty often or stitch my own clothes. Off-shoulder is in fashion and I did not find one that I liked after visiting a million stores or sites online. So I decided to make one of my own. I made the top that I'm wearing in the below picture for my anniversary trip to Thailand.

What is your most recent personal project?

To become a morning person. I'm almost there now.

Tell us something you think about often (maybe while staring out of windows).

Okay, there is no denying it. There is only one thing that I think about as often as I can and that is food! So, when I'm deep in thought, I'm thinking about what to cook for dinner or what dessert to indulge in during the weekend. The other thing that I think about is how do I have the free time to just sit and think. Then I go ahead and pick up a chore.

Give us something that’s your favorite, but make it something oddly specific, not like your favorite food, but like your favorite food when you’ve been studying for hours and forgot to eat. Or, you know, something like that.

Long conversations with my husband. Over hot tea. On the balcony, while it rains.

I'm not gonna tag anybody, because I think this is a very interesting tag and everyone should take it up. Leave the answers in the comment section below or do a blog post and leave the link below.

Come on, go for it.

  3. Wow! You can fix things around the house. Respect! I have to look at the husband who is so good with his hands. He can fix stuff and he is so good with carpentry and has made many cabinets around the house. I also loved the top you stitched for yourself. You are so talented, Sowmya! Loved reading your answers.

  4. No time to listen to music? Will that happen once I become an adult? Can I turn back time now?!?!?!

Hi-5 for the window thoughts too. I have this habit of using my free time to hunt for new restaurants on Zomato. I look at the menu, the photos, the reviews, and that's it. I never end up going there. Just reading the lovely descriptions makes me happy beyond anything. What a weirdo I am!

Do share an in-depth review of HP5 on the blog soon! Would love to know more about your thoughts on my favourite book in the series <3
