Love Never Withers

PHOTO PROMPT © Marie Gail Stratford

"Are you sure this is all you want, Sarah?" The lawyer asked again.

"Yes." She said, slowly.

"You can choose whatever you want. Your grandfather left all this to you and your sisters."

Sarah's four sisters were busy staking claim on the cars and the family jewels. Sarah had just chosen a withered rose. The petals all worn out, dusty webs over it.

"I want to give this to your grandmother for her birthday tomorrow." Gramps had said.

He passed away early the next day. When his possessions were opened a week later, all Sarah could see was the rose.

  6. I'm of a rather practical nature. What will she do with it? I hope the lawyer talks her into taking something of more lasting value. I do understand the sentiment, but still.
