Bubbles

PHOTO PROMPT © G.L. MacMillan " Which of these bottles can give the biggest of bubbles? " asks six year old Nathan to the shopkeeper who also is his father. " Why do you want big bubbles? " the father curiously asks his son who is eyeing the bottles stacked up on the old shelf. " Bigger bubbles look beautiful and are brighter than all the other ones " quips Nathan. " The size of the bubble doesn't matter my son. What matters is how long the bubble lasts and spreads happiness " says the father and hands over a tiny bottle from the second shelf to his son who screams in glee. All That Matters

PHOTO PROMPT- © Sandra Crook She walked slowly in the scorching heat, carrying a bag on her head and two more in each of her feeble hands. The blisters on her feet hurt and burned, and yet she did not stop; she couldn't. Turning around the corner, she found her regular place and was glad that it was covered in soothing shade. She emptied the contents of her heavy bags carefully, separated and laid down the vegetables for sale. Ignoring the pain all around her body, she said a quick prayer and put on a big smile to greet her first customer for the day. Buried Flames

PHOTO PROMPT – © Jean L. Hays I told you not to continue with your dangerous racing, especially after the near fatal accident that almost killed you a few months ago. Yet, you did not pay heed to me and went ahead with it without thinking of anything or anybody else. You were selfish and only thought about your dreams and passion, ignoring our beautiful family, our wonderful kids and me. Look what it has come to now, as I stand here helpless wondering how different things would have been had you listened to me. There you lie buried and here my life is set to flames. Finding Closure

PHOTO PROMPT – © C. Hase I took a deep breath and walked down the sandy path, slowly and completely aware of what lay ahead. I have been through so much over the past few years that I needed some time off, just for myself. I know that a heart break is not the end of the world, but I wanted time to mourn, cry, recuperate and let go. I wanted to find myself again and fall in love with her. This solo vacation would give me the much needed closure, so that I can head back with head held high and start a fresh life. The Best Friend

© Dawn Q. Landau This is the path that you used to take for school every day and I used to walk behind, guarding you and watching every step of yours. I would bark when the train was approaching to alert you much ahead of time, so that you don’t panic when the giant beast passed by. I loved you so much my master that it is now hard to believe that you are no longer here and that we will never walk this way together. But your thoughts would never be forgotten. I shall take this route every single day until I’m around. This five sentence fiction is written for the topic ' Forgotten ' at Lillie McFerrin Writes . The Open Balcony

Copyright Rochelle Wisoff-Fields The open balcony was inviting me and I knew that I could catch a glimpse of the entire estate from there. The tall gate was locked and I peep inside to see if anyone was around. After being sure that no one was inside, I kick my shoes in the air, tie my hair high up and climb up the railing. I have never been in such a big house before, even if from outside on an empty balcony. The view was beautiful, but I had to hurry back before my father, the gardener of the estate finds me here. " Will you please read me a story about cricket until I fall asleep ?" Fresh Love

© Copyright Jean L. Hays Today is the first day of the year and I'm up with the sun all set for my morning walk. I slowly walk along the road, basking in the mild heat and hoping for a fresh start to the year. Just as I reached the cross road, I saw someone walking in the opposite direction and talking continuously on the phone. Tall, dark and handsome, he was sweating profusely and yet managed to look breathtakingly handsome. He gave me a quick look and a smile escaped his lips; and there it was, the first glimpse of my first love story. Glimmering Star

Copyright -Björn Rudberg It took me a long time to find the perfect Christmas tree, and it was no easy task to get it down to our house through our steep pathway. Watching my wife decorate the tree, made me smile realizing that all the effort I put did not go in vain. " Dad, we do not have a glimmering star to put on top ", my five year old came rushing to me. " Darling, I have the perfect star for it !" She and her mother watched as I climbed up the ladder to put our tiny family portrait on top of the tree. Trust The Memories

Copyright – Sandra Crook The cyclone took away everything that I had; my family, my house and everything else that I could call mine. When I returned home after a year away, all that was left was a big mess of broken bricks and wood. The pond was plagued with dirt and the entire place looked abandoned. I could have easily turned back and gone away to a better pasture, but the love in my heart refused to let go of me. I decided to trust myself and build everything from scratch again so that the memories of my loved ones could live forever. Flight To Success

Image Source " He is a sissy, I do not want him in my team ", their voice echoed in my ears every time I set foot on the playground. Yes, I have always been a timid boy but that doesn't mean that I need to be picked upon or ridiculed. Time and again, they made fun of me and made me feel like I am disabled or incapable of doing anything. It took all the patience I had to hold on to my self confidence and not fall prey to their attacks.  Today I think about all of them and smile, every time I get ready to pilot a flight that carry people like them. Envious Wish

Image Source: Google I was seeing him after years, but yet the thrill he caused within me was still the same. It was really hard, but we had to move on. But today when I see him with his wife, I feel a pang of jealousy and cannot help but wish that I was in her place. Falling Forever

Copyright- The Reclining Gentleman I can feel the chill in the air as we sit and watch the still water, our hands entwined with each other. This place is serene and gives me immense peace, or maybe it is just the effect of being around you; since I gush like a child and feel pretty as a woman when you fail to take your eyes off me. It has been fifty years now and the feeling is still the same. And so is the magic. Fifty years ago, it was at this place that I realized that I had fallen in love with you. Music For The Soul

Copyright-Rochelle Wisoff-Fields " I can't believe that you have turned my library into such a huge mess ", my dad scowls as he looks around in disgust. " Oh, come on daddy, this is exactly what I want to do with my life; make music and teach it to others, you know that ", I say grazing the piano with my finger tips. " So, this is your future ?", he looks upset and disappointed. " Yes daddy, I have this weird hunger within me, that only music can satiate. This is the hunger that comes from within my soul ", I say as my dad smiles and walks away. This five sentence fiction is written for the topic ' Hunger ' at Lillie McFerrin Writes .
