#DecBookLove: Calling All Bibliophiles

Everyone here is aware of my love for reading and books. I have written enough posts about my love for books, so I'll not be getting into it again. Last month, I started an Instagram page to showcase my love for books. That page is solely dedicated to books and I share book reviews, book recommendations and just about anything that has to do with books out there. Thanks to that page, I'm finally giving some importance to photography and spend some time and effort in setting up a good layout for the books I want to talk about. I've been getting a lot of appreciation for the pictures and it makes me feel so good. Social media is a nice tool for encouragement and inspiration, if used right.

Most of you know about the Photo A Day challenge that happens on Instagram. This happens monthly where there is a fixed prompt for each day of the month. It may or may not follow a particular theme. One should post a picture that goes with the prompt for that day. I did this photo a day challenge for all 12 months last year, on my personal Instagram page. This year, I stayed away from it. One day, an idea struck me! I thought about doing a photo a day challenge just for books. With time, the idea began to take shape and the picture was pretty clear in my head. It is a simple challenge actually. I had to come up with thirty or thirty one prompts, one for each day of the month. Only that, I had to stick to the theme of books. But, I did not want to do it alone. I wanted someone to join me in this. Someone who loves and appreciates books as much as I do.

The first name that came to my mind was Shalini. I ran the idea by her and she loved it! She hopped on almost immediately and together we came up with a neat plan. We initially thought of doing this in November, but with NaNoWriMo happening in November, it did not seem feasible enough. We wanted people to be relatively free to enjoy this challenge. Now that December is almost here and we are done with almost all the reading for the year, it felt like the right time to do this.

So here's #DecBookLove for you.

31 days, 31 prompts. All you have to do is click a picture of the book that goes with the prompt according to you and post it on Instagram. Of-course there are a few rules to be followed.

Rules for #DecBookLove:

~ Should follow @shalzmojo and @she_booked_it on Instagram and tag them on each post daily.

~ Should post every day based on the specified prompt using the hashtags #DecBookLove, #AmReading, #Bookstagram, #Bibliophile, #Books. You can also add more hashtags if you wish.

~ You can post anytime during the day. You can also tag other people to participate.

~ People who complete all the 31 prompts successfully will be eligible for the below giveaway.

Giveaway for #DecBookLove:

~ Two participants will receive two books each as the prize. These books will be pre-loved and shall come from the prized collection of @shalzmojo and @she_booked_it.

~ Prize will be dispatched to an Indian postal address only.

That's it! Interested? What are you waiting for then? The prompts are here, so rush to your bookshelves and start match-making! Shalini and I are looking to make this as active and interactive as possible. We are also looking to add more books to our over-flowing TBR pile. Let's do this together, shall we?

The prompts will be posted on our respective Instagram handles next week, so you can make a note of it there too. Be kind and spread the word, okay?
