34 On 34

I stopped doing birthday posts a few years ago, although I don't recall why. Sub-consciously I had stopped writing life-updates or other personal stuff on the blog. It was mainly because people became too nosy and felt that they had a say in everything I do. It was also because my blog-posts were becoming coffee table conversations and were being discussed on whatsapp groups which I'm not a part of but got all the updates to (involuntarily, obviously!). Personally, I'm someone who hates gossip, let alone be the topic! With time, I realized that people will talk no matter what. Over the past few months, the blog has been becoming more about blog-hops and book reviews and was losing its personal touch. It all changes now.

Action Replay + Gratitude List: 2019

Image Source 2019 has been the fastest year of my life, so far. It hasn't been a easy year, but it has been a good one for sure. 2019 was clearly split into two for me. Till June, my life was consumed with work. Day and night, it was work all the way. I was working on a complex project that needed all my time and effort since June 2018. Yes, it took me a year but I was finally done with it and I couldn't be more happier. It was successful and I received more than enough appreciations for it. In May, we moved into a place of our own. Once I was done with the critical project, I turned my attention towards our home. We did not want to rush into setting everything up at the same time, so we took our time we it. Every piece of furniture, every decor item, every tiny thing that was added to the house was chosen carefully and for a reason and purpose. It still is an on-going process, but, today we have a place that is a reflection of us in true sense.

We Turn Seven

Image Source Seven years ago, on March 9th, I opened blogger for the first time and created a blog. And today I'm writing my 1095th post. Wow, what a journey it has been. It just feels like yesterday when I wrote my first post. Life has changed so much since then and this blog has been a very important part of it. I never knew that I could write until I started writing. Blogging was pretty new back in 2009 and there were hardly any good quality blogs around for me to see as an example. I was going through a difficult phase, and somehow my blog helped me heal. But did I think I would last this long? Honestly, no. I am a person who quickly gets bored of things. Mundane routine is not for me. But somehow, writing kept me going. And in return I kept it going. And soon it became so important to me that I could not do without it. Till date I try my best to write as often as I can and as often as time permits. When I started off, I was heart-broken. Fresh out of a breakup with a l...

Laughing Down The Aisle #LoveAndLaughter

I firmly believe that laughter is something that keeps life going. And a sense of humor is the sexiest trait a partner can have. Humor is not only when we make fun of someone and laugh. You need to be able to laugh at yourself too. Being able to laugh at oneself is quite a feat. And this is exactly what paved way for my love story. The first meeting alone: We had known each other for the whole of our lives and by known I mean that we knew that each other existed. It was at a family occasion that we met and spoke briefly. Then he asked for my number and we began chatting. Our frequencies matched and it was really fun talking to him. We then decided to meet. Since both of us enjoy a drink, we decided to meet one weekend over some old monk and coke. We started talking and did not realize how time flew. A drink turned into five and we were still high on conversation. Finally, the pub authorities asked us to leave and we got up from our seats. We were on the fourth floor and the lif...

Do Not Open The Gate

Image Source The festivities are almost over But the remnants of it still remain As much as it brings happiness Diwali does come with its share of pain I still see sparkles in the sky And hear the blast of a cracker or two The air seems to have turned a different shade This is what us humans always do The dogs are still in hiding Some of them are hurt and limping It will take them days to recuperate All because of one day's doing The wind now carries a foul smell You can barely look across it A halo of dirt covers my eyes Stinging and blinding me bit by bit The bright lamps looked so beautiful All that is now left is an oil trail Every face that was decorated until today Now looks all sullen and pale The streets are filled with burnt crackers Some of them are still emanating smoke Somewhere in the joy of celebration We have turned festivities into a joke I hear an old man coughing hard And I see a child with a ba...

Action Replay - September 2015

Image Source Finally my kind of month came by. September has been one hell of a busy month and I was completely immersed in work. These are the kind of months that I love. I love to be busy and always occupied with something. Sitting idle and wondering what to do depresses the hell out of me. Last month was all about being sick and recuperating. This month thankfully has been a very healthy one and I'm back to being the annoying tyrant I always was. September was Cal's birthday month and I wanted it to be the best birthday that he has ever had. Arranging stuff for his birthday while being buried neck deep in work was quite challenging and thrilling at the same time. I got him a gift that he has wanted for ever and seeing his face light up in surprise and delight as he held the gift was something that I would cherish forever. I'm crazy about this man and I am not the one to leave any stone unturned to make sure that his face always has a smile on it. Early September ...

One Short Of Thirty

Image Source Come August and I turn into an enthu cutlet. A week into August is my birthday and I am always beaming with energy and happiness during that time. I wait for the 8th of August every year and go all childlike that day. All my birthdays have been that way. I like celebrations. I absolutely love them infact. Be it birthdays or anniversaries, I want a big celebration. If someone tries to ruin an important day of mine I would loathe them for life. A happy occasion is something that needs to be cherished and I love to celebrate all important days of ours. We celebrate the anniversary of the day we met, the day I said yes, the day we got engaged, the day we got married - and this we celebrate every month. Yeah, call us crazy if you want but Cal and I are generally very happy people. Someone once told me that a husband would run behind his wife for six months after marriage. Once the fancy wears out, he would not even look at her. I would give anything to see the look on the...

Bangalore's Night Life

Image Source Initially Bangalore night life was frowned upon as everything was shut down by 11.30 pm. But since the new Government rules came into effect, night life in Bangalore is one of the best in the country. Apart from IT, Bangalore is famous for the pub culture and Bangaloreans love their drink and they know how to party. Almost every posh area in Bangalore is now home to a number of drinking holes. In addition to these there are a good number of discotheques in Bangalore , where you can go and dance to some wonderful music. Indiranagar and Koramangala being the party hub of the ever bustling and happening city. I saw a recent statistic which shows that the number of drinking joints in Koramangala is more than the number of drinking joints in the whole of Kerala. Bangaloreans are more often than not spoilt for choice, when it comes to visiting pubs. There are so many options that it would take a lifetime to explore all. Bangaloreans are not alcoholics, they know how...

A Walk To Remember

Image Source Today on this cold evening Let us get lost in each other Forget the world and its foibles Holding hands, let us walk together Look around at the world Everything is so beautiful Your loves does that to me Being with you makes life fruitful Looking at us, the sky smiles Bestowing upon me its grace I feel the chill down my spine As you hold me in an embrace Happiness was only a word Until you showed me its meaning All the bad was just washed away With your wonderful forms of healing Let us celebrate everything today Life, love, togetherness and joy They say it comes in many ways But my happiness came in the form of a boy Let us paint the city red With our love and madness We don't have to worry about getting lost In your heart, lies my address Today I can walk all night Your love makes me feel strong The mild wind is calling out to me With you I can walk all night long Let us make a mark on thi...

I Can Read Your Mind

Image Source Valentine's Day is just two weeks away and I'm going out of my way to make the day special for my man. You see, we are moving into a place of our own soon and this would be our first Valentine's in this place. Movies and dinners are so passé, I want to do something special that shall leave my husband spellbound! I want to make this day the best day of our life by doing everything that he wants to. Most often than not, it is always about me during celebrations. But on this day I'm going to make it all about him. Oh yeah, everything single thing is going to be about him and only for him. And how would it be special for him? Because I'm going to read his mind and do all the things running inside it. Yes, this Valentine's Day I'm blessed with the super power to read minds! How awesome is that. Its midnight and he is thinking about some dessert and I get him the most yummiest chocolate lava cake that I have made specially for him. He is st...

My Blog, My Pride

Image Source On March 9, 2015 I shall complete six years of blogging. Six whole years of writing almost everything that happened in my life and almost everything that came to my mind. Writing started off with the hope of healing my broken heart and venting out my frustrations. Later it became all about poetry and fiction. And when I found love again, it became a happy space that held every account of my life. Today, this space has become my companion in every walk of life. Be it a rant, a poem or a piece of fiction, it always will be a piece of my heart. Yes, some of it might be a filament of my imagination but still it is linked to me in more ways that one. The Honest Posts series is my love story out in the open, right from day one. Some people tell me not to share too much of personal information on the blog. But when there is a Facebook and a Twitter having almost every detail of our daily life, why not a blog? And moreover it is a personal choice as to what I share. I...

Being Cupid

Image Source The proposal is always said to be a man's thing but who says a woman cannot do it? Some people say that a woman proposing to a man is a desperate attempt, which is totally ridiculous. Love is the most wonderful emotion in the world and it remains the same no matter who proposes. Love is a very strong feeling and having the guts to express it and shout it off to the world is a huge thing. Believe me, not everyone can do that. We all have heard of those silent love stories, where two people are in love with each other but are shy or scared to tell the other person. Thank God, we do not live in that era anymore. And Valentine's day compels us to not keep quiet about the love we feel. I know we do not need just one day to express our love, but since Saint Valentines worked so hard for it, we might as well as make it worthwhile. Roses, chocolates and soft toys are so passé. And more over they are girly things. How would you propose to a man? The conventional met...

Action Replay - December & 2014

Image Source December has been a wonderful and eventful month. I got almost all of my work done and my writing too picked up pace with about eighteen posts this month. Well, I am happy. December gave me a good pay hike as well as extra income with my writing. Plus I finally won a contest on Indiblogger and that too the grand prize. The prize was an all expense paid trip to Kochi to attend the Nissan Safety Driving Forum and a Kindle paper white. Sadly, I could not attend the event hence I had to pass the offer to go to Kochi. But I will be receiving my Kindle soon. Of late I have seen a lot of Facebook updates where hardcore book lovers have fallen head over heels in love with the Kindle. I was against it and always thought that nothing can replace the concept of a good bulky book in my hand. But ever since I installed the Kindle app on my iPad, I am hooked to it! I love the ease and the feel of reading remains the same. I love the fresh bright font and the fact that it does ...

Glimmering Star

Copyright -Björn Rudberg It took me a long time to find the perfect Christmas tree, and it was no easy task to get it down to our house through our steep pathway. Watching my wife decorate the tree, made me smile realizing that all the effort I put did not go in vain. " Dad, we do not have a glimmering star to put on top ", my five year old came rushing to me. " Darling, I have the perfect star for it !" She and her mother watched as I climbed up the ladder to put our tiny family portrait on top of the tree. This five sentence fiction is written for the topic ' Glimmer ' at Lillie McFerrin Writes . This drabble (100 word fiction) is written for Friday Fictioneers, 26th December 2014 .
