Bangalore's Night Life

Image Source Initially Bangalore night life was frowned upon as everything was shut down by 11.30 pm. But since the new Government rules came into effect, night life in Bangalore is one of the best in the country. Apart from IT, Bangalore is famous for the pub culture and Bangaloreans love their drink and they know how to party. Almost every posh area in Bangalore is now home to a number of drinking holes. In addition to these there are a good number of discotheques in Bangalore , where you can go and dance to some wonderful music. Indiranagar and Koramangala being the party hub of the ever bustling and happening city. I saw a recent statistic which shows that the number of drinking joints in Koramangala is more than the number of drinking joints in the whole of Kerala. Bangaloreans are more often than not spoilt for choice, when it comes to visiting pubs. There are so many options that it would take a lifetime to explore all. Bangaloreans are not alcoholics, they know how...

A Happy Baby Is The Best Teacher

A few days back I wrote about how I did not know anything about babies. I do know what they like, what they don't, how to handle them and what makes them happy and pleased. I get a negative score when it comes to babies and I was more than happy about being ignorant about these things. But little did I know what I was in store for. I did not know I would have to learn all of this in the most toughest way possible. And that too not with my own baby. Last week, I visited my friend after a long time. She has a little toddler of about ten months and that little girl is one cranky kid. My friend was exhausted from all the daily chores and wanted to relax for a while. The baby was sleeping, so we dimmed the light and sat by the window with a cup of tea and caught up on our gossip. I was visiting her after a long time and it felt nice to get back to how we were before. But with the first sip, we heard a wail and rushed to see our little princess all awake and irritated. I looked...

It Is Never Too Late To Look Up

Image Source Heartbreak is one of the most toughest of pains. It refuses to leave and always takes away a part of you. My first heartbreak was when I was fairly young. I had just started working and I knew that a long distance relationship would not survive. And as expected, it went down the drain in the most horrible way possible. Life is cruel at times. When one thing goes wrong, everything around goes wrong as well. That was one of the most toughest period of my life. I was away from family in the most horrible city ever, had just gotten out of a relationship, the cultural difference was taking a toll and my health was gone for a toss. I thought well, this is it. This is how my life is going to be always. I felt a mixture of emotions within me and none of them were pleasant. I refused to get out of the moping phase and sat pondering about what went wrong, without bothering about what I could do to set things right. At times life does that to you. It shows you only emptin...

Quick Exchange #QuikrNXT

Image Source We have been thinking of getting rid of our car for quite a while now. We had narrowed down a list of new cars that we could purchase. But since we had to move out to a place of our own, we fell a little short financially. Our alto was more than five years old and we did not expect much money once we sell it off. But once we posted an ad on Quikr, we got so many responses that we were surprised. Thankfully, we had registered for the QuikrNxt and hence we were not disturbed. The people interested in buying the car could text us and it was really convenient. We shared pictures of the car from every angle that the buyer requested. A guy even wanted to check the picture of the engine. Surprised and shocked that we were, we still clicked a picture and shared it with him. He seemed pleased and asked for some time to get back. QuikrNXT helped us keep a tab on all the buyers and callers. Since it has this feature of saving the conversations, we did not have to reme...

Staying True

Image Source Blogging has become an excellent medium to make money these days. Be it with reviews or with contests. Almost every post we write these days reaps some benefit. Be it in the form of a consolation hamper or a participating voucher. The recent ' Happy Hours ' by Indiblogger is like a honey pot. It not only tests the writing skills but also the agility of the writer. I myself have sat for minutes looking at the ' Submit Now ' button, hoping to make it to the 100 or 200 list. It happens you know, all of us need the extra cash/vouchers. A little extra never hurt anyone after all. But going all crazy and maniacal over it is something that is purely unethical. Write, there is no problem with it. But write about what matters to you and what you can connect with. That is how I function. There are so many contests and happy hours that I choose not to be a part of, because I not agree with the theme or I have no clue about it what so ever. The latest happ...

My Bucket List #BefikarUmarBhar

You only life once, so it is better to live life to the fullest they say. I cannot agree more. With the evolving times I'm glad to see the lifestyles of people changing as well. Yes, there are a certain few who still prefer to be the frog in the well. There is no point talking to such people. They shall dwell and then die in that well in ignorance. It is a beautiful world out there, it needs to be explored. There are so many things to learn in this world, it needs to be learnt. There are so many feelings in this world, it needs to be experienced. And for that you need to want to do it. Nobody else can do it for you. Such passions come from within a person and such passions need to see the light of day. Life is really short, and there are still so many things that I need to do. If I know that I'm set for life and no other tensions, then it is about time that I make my own bucket list.  So these are the things that I want to do before I kick the bucket. 1. Travel the...

Cut The Call #QuikrNXT

Image Source My house resembles a junk yard at present as my husband and I are moving out to a place of our own next week. All the items that we need to take to our new place is all packed and ready. We bought a whole lot of items too, like furniture, kitchen essentials, curtains and a lot of other things. As we piled on new items, we were left with a pile of items that we did not want to take to our new place. But what do we do with those items we thought. We initially thought of giving it all away to the maid, but she refused to take them as her house was already full. And then we decided to sell it off on Quikr. Since we had changed our phones a month ago, both our old Nokia Lumia phones were sitting simply at home. We put that up for sale first. The response we got was humongous. Within an hour we received more than twenty calls. We were delighted at first, thinking that it would be easy to sell off all our stuff. So armed with a camera, we took photos of the old sofa, the ...

Going Sleek!

Image Source I'm a multitasker who is constantly on the go. I call my mind organised chaos as I always have a million things to do. I want to work and at the same time write. I want to dance and at the same time paint. I want to listen to music and at the same time make a planner. I always have a hundred things running on my mind and I find that this keeps me active and energized. I'm not a very big fan of tablets or phone pads. I find it really difficult to type on touch screens. I need a chic and sleek technology partner by my side, to enable and empower the multitasker in me. Since more than half of Bangalore is Wi-fi enabled now, all I need is an amazing device that I can carry around in my bag and connect anywhere. It needs to be light and yet powerful. And most importantly, it should come at a decent price and be worth it. I had it narrowed down to two choices. The sleek and powerful ASUS EeeBook X205TA or the ultra-portable and perpetually connected ASUS All...

Being Cupid

Image Source The proposal is always said to be a man's thing but who says a woman cannot do it? Some people say that a woman proposing to a man is a desperate attempt, which is totally ridiculous. Love is the most wonderful emotion in the world and it remains the same no matter who proposes. Love is a very strong feeling and having the guts to express it and shout it off to the world is a huge thing. Believe me, not everyone can do that. We all have heard of those silent love stories, where two people are in love with each other but are shy or scared to tell the other person. Thank God, we do not live in that era anymore. And Valentine's day compels us to not keep quiet about the love we feel. I know we do not need just one day to express our love, but since Saint Valentines worked so hard for it, we might as well as make it worthwhile. Roses, chocolates and soft toys are so passé. And more over they are girly things. How would you propose to a man? The conventional met...

Settle Down Quikr #QuikrBLR

Image Source A dear friend of mine is soon going to be relocating from Hyderabad to Bangalore and I'm thrilled. I visited Hyderabad last year and I found it to be a very beautiful city. I stayed in Banjara Hills, one of the most poshest residential areas of Hyderabad and the place was excellent. And so was the weather. We visited during July and the weather was uber pleasant. It reminded me of Bangalore in more ways than one. So I want to make sure that my friend doesn't miss her city much when she moves here. I'm sure no city holds a candle to Bangalore. For me, without a doubt Bangalore is the best place to live in. This city has everything that one could need and experience. And I will do everything I can to make my friend's stay here as smooth and comfortable as possible. She is shifting here for a year or two, so, everything needs to be sorted for her as quick as possible. She would be staying with me until she settles down, and she needs everything for h...

Teddy Travelogues #TravelWithKids

Image Source Vacations are something that all of us look forward to. For some it is a getaway from the mundane work. For some it is a celebration. For some it is an escape from reality while for some it is an expression of love. A vacation is always a perfect break from something. You can take some time away and retrospect on the days or events that passed by. It gives you a peace within and helps you plan your next step in life. If you have a lover for company then every vacation is turned into a honeymoon filled with memories. A vacation is the perfect relaxation. Taking a break from a regular routine is something that we all deserve.  But vacations mean different to different people. Some people like to laze around in the chill of a hill station, some like to get adventurous and go out trekking, some like to go to a beach and enjoy the sun. These are adults who are sure of what they want to do on a vacation. But what about taking kids out on a vacation? Obviously, th...

Not An Excuse #RiseAboveFear

Fear is always over rated and under rated too. The fear of this is called this phobia and the fear of that is called that phobia. Did you know that the fear of number 13 is called ' Triskaidekaphobia '? Sounds silly that some people have such fears right? But no, everyone has their own fears. Be it of heights, water or anything else. I have always been a ferocious child and was not scared of anything. I used to jump from one roof top to another easily in my locality. My parents would cringe and scream as I scaled the third floor of every building. I do not know swimming, but I am not scared of water. I like the presence of water and the loud gush of a waterfall. Swimming has been on my agenda since ten years now but some how I haven't found the time to take it up. It goes on my resolution for 2015 too and hopefully this time I shall fulfill it. Fear is not just a feeling, it is a drawback. It holds you back from all the things that you want to do. At least, if you are...

Silence Will Not Help #AbMontuBolega

Cleanliness is both the abstract state of being clean and free from dirt, and the process of achieving and maintaining that state .  This is how Wikipedia describes cleanliness. The Prime Minister of our country has stressed upon this fact right from day one. Remember the ads by Aamir Khan called ' Athithi Devo Bhava '? Are we actually a clean nation? Are we setting a good example for our visitors? But then again what does cleanliness mean? It has a different definition for each one of us. For me cleanliness is being pure and true to oneself from outside and the inside. This should be shown in our actions and our behaviour. And most importantly it should come from ones own thought and from within. And how do we achieve this? But creating awareness. And how do we do that? By raising our voice. I would like to address this issue on two grounds. One, by cleaning the literal filth from the streets of our country. Two, by cleaning the filthy thoughts from the minds o...

A Basic Right #ToiletForBabli

Image Source: Indiblogger The first time I visited my native place in Kerala, I was eight years old. I was only there for a short vacation with my parents. Having being born and brought up in Bangalore, the concrete city, the simple life and the natural ambiance of Kerala was a welcome surprise to me. There was lush green forests and farms all around. The place we stayed was a huge house right in the middle of three acres of farm. It was a sight to behold, but only for a while. When I woke up the next morning, I saw the female folk and children of the house walking in a hurry with a small plastic bucket in their hands. When I asked them what were they up to, they told me that this is how they begin their morning routine. The huge farm house did not house a toilet and hence people urinated and defecated in the open, right alongside the place where they grew their own vegetables and fruits! The word shocking would be an understatement here. Twenty years have passed since then and...
