Action Replay: September 2016

Yes, yes I'm really ashamed of staying away from this place for such a long time. I did have my reasons though. First, work kept and continues to keep me busy. Second, Harry Potter. We'll come back to that one later. At the risk of sounding like a techie, I'm gonna say that we already are at the final quarter of this year and I have no clue how the months passed by. The last three to four months were all about work and September was no less. Not that I am complaining. I'm a workaholic. We all know that. But earlier, I used to manage my time much better to include writing blog posts, reading, sketching etc etc. Something has snapped somewhere and I'm trying really hard to fix it. It is not easy, but I have no choice if I need to keep this space up and running.

Now coming to Harry Potter. On September 1st, oh yes, on the very same day that the badly named boy was supposed to join Hogwarts, I started reading the first book. I had read it before too, five to eight years ago, but after the cat changed into a woman, I kept the book aside. This time however I was determined to cross fifty pages. The idea was to read a fifty pages and let it go if I do not like it. And then it happened! I fell in love with it. The magic enveloped me and I was taken into a whole new world from where I did not want to return. I had read J.K.R's 'The Cuckoo's Calling' before and had found the writing too tedious. But this one was something else. Maybe because it was written for kids or something, I loved the style of writing and yes, the magic! I finished the first book in two days and started the next one immediately. I managed to finish the first three books in a month while managing work and home. This meant that I did not have time for writing and for the first time ever I was okay with it. If I am the one who had to choose between writing and reading, I'd choose the latter any time. All that I am is because I read. All that I write, is because I read. There is no compromise on that one.

September started off as a very boring and mundane month, but picked up towards the end. I was appreciated professionally for all the hard work I've been putting all these days and personally I got to be a part of two awesome birthday celebrations of two people who are very very important to me. Birthday's are meant to be special, no matter what. I put everything else on hold to make sure the day got special for the love of my life and my dearest friend. Since the celebrations were followed by good food, every automatically becomes really awesome.

Just five posts in September when I had promised at least twelve is not a good sign, but this time I was caught up with the magic of Hogwarts! But I've had enough. No, not of HP, but of leaving this place stagnant. I usually am a very good planner, but with too many things on ones plate anyone is bound to fall short. I agree I did. I need to learn to multitask better. I've already been managing a demanding job and a home seamlessly, but if I need to give life to the million passions of mine I need to learn to plan well and prioritize better. I have many topics in mind for which I need to write posts, but lack of time is making them lose their luster. So today the first thing I did when I came to work is make a plan. I normally do it only for work related stuff, but this time I did end up creating a monthly planner for my blogs. This one and the food one. I divided the month into weeks and assigned posts for every week. I have the topic and the date sorted out, all I need to do now is stick to it and write. You know what, this time I will. No excuses.

Reading is limited to HP for now and I'm not looking back until I'm done with the eighth book. I'm loving it but the reading pace will have to slow down if I need to do some writing in between. We cannot have everything in life, can we? The problem with independent people like me is that we have an innate urge to want to do everything at the very same time. And then complain about leaving something out. Being extra busy this month made me realize that I'm also human and can't do everything. Everything needs a certain amount of time and maybe if I plan better I'll be able to cover most of the tasks if not all. Such simple realizations, and yet they need to strike you at the right time for the message to be seen and heard loud and clear.

So October is going to be a test for my planning skills. I have so many things to say that I cannot wait to get started with the posts for this month. There will be some good poetry, book reviews and a lot of opinions. As usual in my own style. I miss writing. Yes, I do. And I'm gonna make sure that I never have to go through this feeling again.

September was all about doing well at work and Harry Potter. October will all be about Harry Potter and better planning.

How was your September?
