Black Magic

Image Source You and I have been together for years And now we're expected to stay apart How do I make myself do this When you hold a piece of my heart You've stood by me through thick and thin As I played with you the way I want You made me an artist in a way Without you, those memories now haunt I know the separation is temporary Yet I find it hard to step out I feel a part of me missing Somewhere within me I nurse a doubt I still am confident and strong I feel really happy and good But I cannot forget all those times When you and I together stood You were such a close part of me I hope these few months pass by soon We'll make up for all the time we lost Drawn across me, I'll make you swoon This time apart is important they say It is for my own good, that I know But once you have an addiction In front of it, you have to bow For now, let my eyes just heal Then I'll paint you in different hues I...

Clear Boredom

Image Source This is the fifth consecutive day that I've stayed at home without stepping out much. Yeah, no office or anything. No, I haven't gone crazy but I soon will if I don't do something productive. So, here I am. What happened you ask? Okay let me start from the beginning. It was the year 2000 and I was in the 8th standard. I was the class topper and once I was asked to read out something from the blackboard. I stood up in pride and then realized that there was nothing written on the board. I squinted my eyes as the teacher looked at me with a puzzled look. She asked me to step forward and come right in front of the class and read. As I walked ahead, I could see the poem ' Silver ' written on the board in faint handwriting. I loved that poem, but that was when it struck me that something was wrong with my eye sight. I read the poem and walked away really sadly. When you study in a convent, you have a lot of privileges. We had regular health camps that...

Why I Suck At Taking Breaks

Image Source I took a week long break from work to just relax and unwind and cater to other personal commitments. My last holiday was some time in May and the last leaves I took was when I fell sick. When work took precedence over everything else and started bogging me down, I decided that I need a break. I just needed to get away from the monotony of life for sometime. So when I finished all my tasks at work, I decided to take a short break and just do nothing. Cal was on leave for a couple of days too and time just flew in his company. We spent all the time together like we always do. Thanks to current Bangalore weather and pouring rain, we spent most of the time indoors. We watched movies and played games. But we most indulged in the favorite thing that we do together. Talk! We had long conversations over hot ginger tea and pakoras as we watched the rain together from our balcony. Diwali came and went as usual leaving behind a trail of torn papers, dust and smoke. Cal and I ...

Absolutely In Love #HairIsFashion

My Jet Black Hair - The look I have sported for years now Almost everyone knows about how obsessed I am with my hair. I treat my hair like my child. Pampering it with regular massages and spas, washing and deep conditioning, oiling rituals and all that you can think of. My mane also loves me back as much I love it because I put my hair though a lot day in and day out. Blow drying, straightening, twisted hair knots, hair sprays etc etc. Also, I used a million shampoos on my hair thanks to the products that come to me for review. And yet my hair has always remained my shining glory. Not once have I had a bad hair day or a messy hair day. I always make sure that my hair is prim and proper before I step out. I always have a scarf and a hair clip handy, in case of the harsh weather. I do not even take care of myself this well! My hair gets and deserves all the love and pampering I give it. The Auburn Blend & The Helix Flair But over the past few days I have been thinki...

Being Cupid

Image Source The proposal is always said to be a man's thing but who says a woman cannot do it? Some people say that a woman proposing to a man is a desperate attempt, which is totally ridiculous. Love is the most wonderful emotion in the world and it remains the same no matter who proposes. Love is a very strong feeling and having the guts to express it and shout it off to the world is a huge thing. Believe me, not everyone can do that. We all have heard of those silent love stories, where two people are in love with each other but are shy or scared to tell the other person. Thank God, we do not live in that era anymore. And Valentine's day compels us to not keep quiet about the love we feel. I know we do not need just one day to express our love, but since Saint Valentines worked so hard for it, we might as well as make it worthwhile. Roses, chocolates and soft toys are so passé. And more over they are girly things. How would you propose to a man? The conventional met...

I'm Odd

OCD Alert!

Image Source: Google Ever since I read this post by Keirthana, I have been wanting to write about my fetishes too. I'm a borderline OCD freak and it gets on to my nerves every time things around are not the way I want it to be. Something inside me breaks and I squirm and squirm until I sort it out. A few of them are mentioned below. ~ I have an order in which I open tabs on Chrome. Gmail, LOL, Facebook, Twitter and then google. I'd drag and switch these tabs any number of times in a day without flinching. But the order needs to be the same.  ~ I never open work related sites on Chrome. Internet Explorer only. By chance if it opens by default on Chrome, I copy the link, close the tab and paste it in IE. ~ I always plug in the laptop charger. Even if the charge is full. I somehow cannot work without the charging symbol. ~ I never let my phone battery die or go below 50 percent. As and when I can, I charge my phone.  ~ I always do my eyes in a particu...

Celebrating Womanhood with #DovePlay

Image Source: Indiblogger On a random day, as usual I was late for work and my phone kept ringing as I was rushing to get ready. I decided to ignore it first, but then the ringing did not stop. I hastily picked it up in a hurry deciding to scream out if was a promotion for some bank. It turned out to be Vineet from Indiblogger , asking me to come and attend the # DovePlay Indiblogger meet. You see, I have wanted to attend an Indiblogger meet since the day I joined them. But very few meets happen in Bangalore and I had signed up to assign the Milaap meet held here. But unfortunately, I had a working weekend that week and had to cancel it at the last minute. But this time I knew that there was no way I could attend the meet, as it was to be held in Mumbai. I sadly told Vineet the same thing, but he laughed and told me to still attend it. Before I could voice out my concern, he told me that my flight tickets, meal and stay would be taken care of by the Dove team! I wasn't s...

For The Love Of Cricket

( Image Source: Google ) True Story #One: Date 1 : I look at him blankly as he stares lovingly into my eyes. I finally had agreed to go out with him after a year of pestering. He seemed to be a sweet guy and I was like fine, let us try it out. I kept checking my phone every now and then. He let me do it a couple of times and the third time he interrupts. He (filled with concern): " All okay? Some problem ?" Me (laughing): " Hey no, its the cricket match today right. The IPL . Bangalore is playing Mumbai na ." I wanted to be honest. I was already finding him boring and thought that I could atleast discuss the match with him. He (with eyes wide open): " So you watch cricket ?" Me: " Yes. Why ?" He (with a mocking laugh): " No, girls don't watch cricket right. That's why ." If I was looking for a reason to not see him again, I already had one. But I wanted to give him another chance so I some how swallowed my...

Magic Unfolds

Here we go guys. As promised, here is a glimpse of my big day!  All dressed up. I couldn't recognize myself. After the garlanding ceremony. Man, those garlands are super heavy :| Cal walks his bride to the swing/oonjal. Oonjal is an Iyer custom where the bride and groom sit on a swing and women walk around warding them from all evil. And he promised to hold my hand for life :)  The Iyer bride costume. Another case of non-identification :D His usual self, Cal had to crack jokes just before the moment. The moment. Beautifully captured. Mangalya thantunanena mama jeevana hethunaa Kante badhnaami subhage tvam jeeva saradah satham Burn, evil doers. Burn in hell. Yeah, I'm a drama queen too. Toe Rings. God bless you, dear husband :) The custom where you go see a star called Arundati. All we could see was a mobile signal tower. And a crow. The wedding venue. Cal and I supervised the decoration. After the gr...
