Sparked

PHOTO PROMPT © Anshu Bhojnagarwala

She looks at me from across the campfire, her gorgeous face a subtle shade of gold.

"Why are you so quiet?" Nadia asks, poking my elbow.

"Nothing, just enjoying the moment." I say.

"And her?"

"You know her? She's gorgeous!"

"She's a friend, want to say "Hi"?"

Together we walk to the other end of the campfire and Nadia introduces Sofia to me. Sofia, such a beautiful name! Nadia leaves us alone and we sit and chat through the night. The beginning of love, yes.

Back in her room, Nadia sheds a tear. She killed a spark to light another.

  3. Dear Soumya,

This happened to my oldest son's girlfriend in their college days. She introduced him to the young woman who has been his wife for nearly 20 years. Sad story...well told.

    Shalom,
