Musandam Dibba, Oman - March 2019 |
While on our holiday to Dubai this year, we wanted to do something out of the ordinary. Dubai is known for its bling and buildings and all the extravagance in the world. A three hour drive away from Dubai, lies Musandam Dibba. It is a part of the Sultanate Of Oman and the drive is highly scenic with curvy roads and mountains for company. Not many are aware of the existence of this place and hence it remains one of the best kept secrets of the Arabian world.
Once you reach the harbor, they take you on a wooden boat into the water. The scenery is strikingly beautiful with all the peace, calm and tranquility around you. They stop for a while in the middle of the water while you are taken by smaller boats to the shore on the other side. This shore was splendid and my husband and I walked along it for an hour indulging in our never ending conversations. There was plenty of sand, stones, corals and weeds on the shore. But, very few trees.
This one stood out on her own among a small herd of other large trees. With the water coming up the shore periodically, it is easy for the roots to become weak and drift away into the sea. This explains the dearth of trees in this place. But, this one, though small, had very strong roots and refused to budge. She cut a pretty picture too.
Bob Marley said, "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have".
Well, Brianna proves it, doesn't she?
**Brianna: Strong, virtuous and honorable.

Thursday Tree Love is a photo feature on the fabulous Parul's blog hosted on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. The next edition will be live on August 8, 2019. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog and link it back to her post.
The tree is a survivor and fighter! Nature is great...
ReplyDeleteIt sure is!
DeleteI love that you are naming each tree. Intrigued by your choice of names however....
ReplyDeleteI look at the tree and a word or phrase comes to my mind. Using that I name it. Trying to use global names to keep it more inclusive :)
DeleteLiked your punchline of Bob Marley : You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice... thanks for inspiring.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome and thanks for visiting Angela.
DeleteIt's amazing how nature survives in harsh climatic conditions. You arevery observant.
ReplyDeleteOh you bet! As a writer and a testing lead I need to be very observant :P
DeleteNature is beautiful, strong and has lessons for us. Lovely description and photo of "Brianna", Soumya!
ReplyDeleteHello Hottie! Nice to see you here after a while.
DeleteNature teaches us like nothing else does.
What a lovely name you've given her. I am surprised to see this tranquil place amidst the bling of Dubai. I loved reading about your experience in the middle of the water in a wooden boat and then walking along the shores. I guess you wouldn't have expected this lovely experience in Dubai! How did you find this place? Had you planned visiting it before or you noticed it as you passed by? I would love to know.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jay! We were looking for offbeat experiences online (like we do for every place we travel), and came across this. It wasn't very expensive and was just a day trip, worked out brilliantly for us :)
DeleteI love that name. I have never heard of that place and i am going to ask you more if I go to that side. The tree is beautiful and stands tall. Thank you for joining, Soumya. I hope to see you back tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYou should go there, it is beautiful.
DeleteI'll be there for the next edition, promise.
