We’ve always been night and day
I, the fire; you, the rain
Yet still, our heart beats to the same rhythm
In the quiet, we break the chain
We don’t always walk together
Yet somewhere, our paths align
We move towards a common goal
Always headed toward the same sign
Fourteen years, yet the fire burns
A gentle glow still shining bright
Words being our usual catalyst
Our conversations spark the night
Giving each other room to breathe
Your space is yours, and mine is mine
In love there is no smothering
Letting each other free, yet intertwined
You are my calm, you are my storm
I love 'you' and I love 'we'
Together we paint our own colors
The magic’s there, in what we see
We’re two, but still a single thread
In differences, we’ve found our grace
Trust and respect being a priority
We always meet, in love’s embrace
I still feel butterflies when I look at you
Sweet nothings or a whispered word
Forever grateful for what we’ve created here
A bond that no one can disturb
Through it all, I thank the stars
For you, for us, for this whole life
We’ve written our story despite all odds
And here we stand, beyond the strife
The fire burns, the butterflies still rise
Grateful for the love we’ve made
We fell in love, we've stayed in love
We’ve built this, and it won’t fade
This is beautiful! Love you both ♥️ and here’s to many more!

ReplyDeleteI'm grateful for this every single day.
DeleteI really love the mutual admiration you guys have for each other, from what I have read in your poems and your other posts. I love the part about loving "we" and about having your separate space but still finding joy in togetherness. It's beautiful. Stay blessed.
ReplyDeleteIt is important to not lose oneself when in love. Took me a while to realize this and I'm glad we both are in the same page when it comes to that.
DeleteWhat a beautiful poem, Soumya! I love everything about this poem. ❤️
