Action Replay - April

I know I am late for the action replay of April, but I was on a mind blowing vacation amongst the beautiful greenery of Coorg. A much deserved vacation after one hell of a hectic month. Thanks to the A to Z challenge, April just swooshed by without even realizing that it took away thirty days with it. An eventful month April has been. Twenty six posts this month, my highest so far. I think. When I started this challenge, I wasn't very sure of making it. But after the first three days, I wanted to make it at any cost. So many wonderful writers participated along with me and it was a delight to read their wonderful posts one after another. Most of them had a theme and for some of them including me, the theme was random. I envisioned a word in my mind with the alphabet and decided to write about it. It was as simple as that. No much stress on the topic or the theme. Because I believe that you should just write about whatever you feel, and write about it the way you want to write.

A special mention to a few bloggers who walked along this journey with me. The heroine Nisha and the wonderful story teller Naba. Jyotsna who is super awesome because she actually wrote two posts for each prompt. I mean how wonderful is that? One person who amazed me with every single post of his was Amrit. Such a genius and a mind blowing story spinner. One guy, whose writing I actually envy. Shilpa who wrote about the things within a marriage in every prompt, making it a delight to read for a married woman. Jo, who always came back for every post with a wonderful comment. I met a lot of other writers too, whom I hadn't read before. Pooja, Swathi, Sreeja, to name a few. It was amazing to see the dedication every participant put into writing each of the posts. Made me feel wonderful to be a part of them.

Now that we are on the writing front, I just realized that this is my seven hundred and third post. Oh yeah, seven zero three! Phew! How and when did that happen?

April was hectic in terms of work and with an impending release and a writing challenge it hardly gave me time to do anything else. I somehow managed to watch '2 States' though and I absolutely loved it. It was a page by page adaptation of the book and the movie was vibrant and colorful and I totally fell heads over heels in love with Alia's clothes. Her kurtas, her earrings, her shoes. Oh wow! I do not like Arjun Kapoor much. I mean he is charming alright, but I find him super heavy waist down, making his posture look funny. I know the poor lad shed like a hundred kilos to make it to the movies, but perhaps he ignored his thighs and butt. Ronit Roy was the highlight of the movie, even though it looked like he suffered from the Udaan hangover. His expressions and restraint made his character the other hero of the movie. And the location of the climax scene, just blew my mind. Anyone knows where it is? I'd like to marry Cal again, at that location.

Last month, I also realized that I react pretty well to change. I went for a complete makeover and cut my mane real short with layers and layers. B:Blunt Bangalore is fantastic! I was the one who usually cried with every snip, but this time I encouraged the stylist to go short and short. After the final setting my hair looked fantastic and the serum on my hair smelt like magic. Wow, quite a pampering experience it was. Totally recommended!

But when it comes to changing the look of my blog, I get totally zonked. I changed template after template trying to get something that I would be happy with, but nothing could satiate me enough. I would have searched atleast a million images for a perfect background, but nothing could make it through. So finally, it was back to square one. I'm working on a new header though, let me see how that turns out. If I'm not happy with it then well, I have a lot of rework to do. People were right when they said that I was hard to impress. I myself can't do it! Thanks to the all umpteen template changes, I lost my blogroll. All the wonderful blogs that I was following were all gone. I had to get through my comments to other profiles and follow them back. So, if I suddenly am a missing follower on your blog, please do not hate me. I had bookmarked the links for a few blogs that I have manually added to my blogroll, which was more than about fifty links. Quite a tedious task it was. Hence it is decided. I am never changing the template of my blog ever. The max I would do is put in a new header and that's it. No more hassles again.

I tried my hand at doodling and it came out real good. Its a two by three art piece that shows Cal and my love story and all the things that brought us together. I'm currently half way through the coloring, I shall post a picture of it once done. My mother-in-law is already tripping on it. It is bright and reeks of love. Well my piece of art, what else can you expect?

Summer is in full form in Bangalore and the sweltering heat is getting to my head. It better start raining quick, else I shall lose my mind. However, summers have made me love office. Not that I did not love it before. But these days I look forward to get to office so that I can peacefully sit and work and not be bothered about the heat outside. How's the weather in others parts of the country? Please go ahead and share your sweaty tales.

I had ignored and let go of a lot of prompts last month, just to focus on the A to Z challenge. It was a tough ride, but I survived. Cheers to all the survivors!

  1. Oh God.. I am the heroine!!Lol! I like the title though :D

I loved reading your blog throughout April. Every evening I wanted to know what was your take on that particular alphabet. Although I did not comment on all, I did read. And yesss, I participated in this challenge because I saw you doing it. I thought if she could be so busy and still manage to write everyday, so can I. Thankyou for being my, ahem, inspiration!

P.S. I hated 2 States. It was too cheesy. And the stereotyping was ridiculous. Punjabi, you know!!!!

    1. Of course you are. I thought you already knew that, since it was self declared! :P

Awww, you are so awesome :D . Someone just called me their inspiration *sniff* *sniff* *happy tears* :D

Cheesy yes. But it reeked of the book. Something that stuck to the original concept. Could be executed better for sure.

  5. An interesting month. Congrats on your successful completion of the prompt. Loved every post. Forget about the template- it's simple and reader-friendly. Your header image choices are awesome and I keep wondering how does she do it. With one image, you give the whole blog a different feel. Tips on effective searching please! :)

I saw 2 states too and had mixed feelings about it. Though I thought Alia and her costumes were super pretty, I couldn't relate to her as a Tamilian (being one myself). Something was missing is her portrayal of a Tamil girl. Other than that, the climax wedding venue swept me off my feet too. It's etched in my heart.

True that summer is driving people crazy, hope the monsoons are here soon.

    1. Thank you darling. I'm glad you notice the tiny changes I make every time. I randomly type a word and browse through the images. For the above header I typed "ink". I found this image on page 14. Yeah, page 14 :P

She was not a tamilian from any angle, but I loved the way she pulled off the character. The venue was mind blowing na? Etched all over me too.

      Fingers crossed for the monsoons.

Heat ? I heard B'lore was at 38 Degrees Centigrade last week. It's really hot this year, isn't it ? Here we're used to the increasing rate of sweating, so no new heat woes :P

  11. Thanks for the shout out Soumya. I wish you could send us some of your sun to Canada. Actually we are getting sun but it's still not very warm. 10°C at the moment. Winter is hanging around a long time this year and does not wish to let go.

Glad you made it to the end of the Challenge. It can be hard work at times. This was my third and I have learned, get all the posts done before it all starts.

Congrats on being a survivor!! But what's new? :) You always have been consistent on the blog :)

And that song. The climax song Hulla Re, I've been tripping on it ever since I watched the movie. Just the perfect perfect blend of Tamil and Punjabi, I thought :O And yeah, the movie was cute :)

Yeah, B: Blunt is brilliant, my friend's bff used to work there and I got a makeover for free when I came to Bangalore first :D Lucky me!

Have a happy May, woman :) Looking forward to more honest posts and fiction.
