OCD Alert!

Ever since I read this post by Keirthana, I have been wanting to write about my fetishes too. I'm a borderline OCD freak and it gets on to my nerves every time things around are not the way I want it to be. Something inside me breaks and I squirm and squirm until I sort it out. A few of them are mentioned below.

~ I have an order in which I open tabs on Chrome. Gmail, LOL, Facebook, Twitter and then google. I'd drag and switch these tabs any number of times in a day without flinching. But the order needs to be the same.

~ I never open work related sites on Chrome. Internet Explorer only. By chance if it opens by default on Chrome, I copy the link, close the tab and paste it in IE.

~ I always plug in the laptop charger. Even if the charge is full. I somehow cannot work without the charging symbol.

~ I never let my phone battery die or go below 50 percent. As and when I can, I charge my phone.

~ I always do my eyes in a particular order. First kajal, then mascara and then the liner. This order hasn't changed in twelve years.

~ I always have to use a white colored towel to dry my hair.

~ I hate it when people fold clothes inside out. My hands constantly itch until I re-do it.

~ The hangers in my closet needs to be arranged according to color. If someone mixes then up, then well, hell breaks lose.

~ The clips on the clothes line too need to be arranged according to color. Even if there are a hundred pieces of clothing put out to dry and the clips on each line is mis-matched, I re-do it.

~ I arrange my clothes according to color first. Then according to formal or casual. Then according to the sleeve length. Then according to the ones I frequently wear. Always done this, always will.

~ I arrange my books according to the name of the author and I hate it when someone changes their order.

~ I write everyday. Something or the other. Irrespective of whether I publish it or not.

~ I shall re-do my nails even if one of the fingers has a tiny bit of the paint chipped. I will not do patch work. I remove the color from all of them and then re-apply. Even if it is the same color.

~ I hate lace and frills. You will never see me in them. Ever.

~ I hate drinking stuff out of steel tumblers. My logic is that, if you cannot see what is inside, then don't drink it.

~ I never gulp down any drink till the end. I always leave about two sips back in the glass. Even if it is coke. Or water.

~ I take bath in piping hot water. Anything less than that, will make me feel that I haven't taken a bath.

~ If I cannot complete a poem in under fifteen minutes, I discard it.

~ I feel paralyzed without my phone.

~ I check out the dressing sense of everyone around me. Male and female. And I pass a comment in my head. Always.

~ I check myself in the mirror or in the reflection of my phone every five minutes.

~ I only use the font 'Trebuchet' on word documents and 'Comic Sans MS' on notepad.

~ I always type my posts on notepad first, save them, and then copy it to my blog. Also, all posts of mine must have atleast one image.

Now that I have mentioned these points here, I am wondering if I should re-order them. :P

  2. I count things. Totally unnecessary, but I find I am counting them in my head. I guess we all have compulsions, some more than others.

  3. There are many similar(not same, though) OCDs between you and me. I too have an order in which I open tabs on Firefox, IE only for work related things, I don't charge any of my gadgets until it indicates the battery is low(less than 10% usually), I always drink till the last drop, I always use Arial font and many others. I think I need to do a post about mine. :-)

  5. Even I am particular about the way I do certain things, like opening tabs or arranging books. Btw, respect to the fact that you write everything. It's an accomplishment in itself.

  6. Lol guilty of arranging my wardrobe and bookshelf in the same manner. Oh as also poetry, discard it. Aah so many more lol. This made me laugh and wonder if I've lived in denial that I don't have ocd..cdo.. :D

  7. Hahhahhha.. "I check out the dressing sense of everyone around me. Male and female. And I pass a comment in my head. Always."
    bapre!!!

A few weeks back I too made a list of my bizarre idiosyncrasies. I never found them bizarre until I wrote them down and read it to myself. -_-

  8. Oh my goodness!!.The monotony of the order in every little thing you do should itself compel you to take a few breaks now and then.My grand daughter is like you.She had forgotten once to take a book to the college and telephoned me to send through the driver the 4th book that had a brown cover .from the right side on the 2nd shelf in her room.To tease her I used to change the position of some object very slightly. As soon she returned she would ask "Thatha, did you touch my things on the table?"Her brother is the exact opposite with his room resembling a jig saw puzzle but he was equally happy with the way his things were.

    2. I find order in disorder. I need everything to be slightly out of place. Its weird, but that's how I am.:P

  10. It was fun reading about your OCD symptoms :) It reminded me a lot more of mine- my wardrobe arrangement is based on the type of the garment and purpose of use, i.e., formal, casual, too casual and so on. (Yeah I have more categories than just formal and casual :P)

Arrangement of books, folding clothes, the fetish on fonts - High five :)

Initially I tried to fight the urges but then realized it's just that we are organized and have a strong sense of establishing the way we want things to be. Let's form a club together :D

That could be OCD, depending on what qualifies as "dirt" for you!

  12. Wow!!! That is a long list! I could have done all that too... but before OCD..before anything.. I am downright Lazy!
Having said that, everything in my house is always in order. But I wouldn't say I am very fussy about it :)

  13. Oh wow! This makes me thing what my fetishes would be...
Lemme think and post one sooner!

And i completely agree to these two:
I have an order in which I open tabs on Chrome. I'd drag and switch these tabs any number of times in a day without flinching. But the order needs to be the same. My order is: Blogspot, Locomente(my blog) and Facebook followed by the rest!

~ I never open work related sites on Chrome. Internet Explorer only. By chance if it opens by default on Chrome, I copy the link, close the tab and paste it in IE.

Nice to know that we share some fetishes, I thought I was the only one! :)

  14. I pride myself too much in not having OCD's and not being obsessed over anything/anyone. I can never accept that 'something else' controls me to the point of making me obsessed about it!
Probably trying to prove that again and again to myself is my ocd.. haha!

  15. I need all my hangers pointing in the same direction. Drive S nuts with this one... :P I tried my bookshelf arrangement... but since now I have a combined shelf, with some books that make zero sense to me (read, S's), I settled for being OCD only about my books. I have them all stacked away according to genre, and that never changes! :)

And hey! No weird shoe thiny? I need all my shoes pointing the same direction, neatly arranged.. color coded. :P Also, I am obsessed with file names on the computer (for as long as I can remember). I dont like '_' much, and irrelevant or long file names irritate the crap out of me. One day, I don't know what possessed me to do it, I ended up renaming most of my music collection. :O Yes, file that under crazy. :P

All my documents have to be like that !! I need to cultivate that habit of writing everyday. Right now, I havent written since ages and I feel awful :(
