I looked around and saw them all sleeping. I peeped out of the door and slowly walked towards the exit. I was in pain, but at this moment the only thing that I wanted to do was to get out of here.

The newspapers next day spoke of an abandoned girl baby in a hospital.

  1. Why people do this? Painful yet there is beauty in these lines, Soumya.

  3. Painful. Why do people do this to the girl child? I still know of so many families who prefer a boy over a girl. When are we ever going to get justice?

  5. A point worth noting is that it must be so traumatic for the mother to abandon a child in this manner. Imagine the circumstances that must have led her to take a move like this.
You've stirred quite a few thoughts in this short post. Good job!

  10. We dont know the situations some people are in and just blame them blindly. This woman may be in an abusive relationship, may have no means to look after a baby and so many other things we dont even know. If she just left the baby in the hospital the baby will still get a life, she may get adopted or may find her way to an orphanage but will somehow live. This is so much better than people who starve and strangle baby girls to death.

  11. Too painful! The baby girl would never know her mom neither the reasons for which she was abandoned.

  15. That hurts. But at least the baby was left alive. That's positive, given the statistics of girl-child deaths.
    Sigh....
Will the world ever change ? !
